How we check deals
A deal only appears on DealSift if the numbers back it up. Here's exactly what we look at.
We track real prices over time
Each day we record the price of products sold by UK retailers we work with. Over weeks this builds a price history for every product, so we can see what it usually costs.
We compare against the usual price, not the "was" price
Retailers often show a "was" or RRP price next to a sale. Sometimes that higher price was only charged briefly, or never. We ignore it and compare today's price with what the product has actually sold for recently.
What makes a deal
- 🔥 Top deal: the lowest price we've recorded in up to 90 days, at least 20% below the usual price, and a saving of at least £10.
- ✅ Good price: at least 10% below the usual price, and a saving of at least £5.
What we throw out
- Products that are out of stock.
- "Sales" where the price is no lower than normal.
- Products we haven't tracked long enough to judge, usually under two weeks.
- Very cheap items where the saving is only pennies.
- The same product again too soon after we last shared it.
Prices change
Retailers change prices often, sometimes within hours. Every deal shows when the price was last checked. We recheck shared deals regularly and mark them as expired when the price goes back up, but always check the price on the retailer's site before you buy.
Deals spotted on Amazon and eBay
Some deals come from retailers whose rules don't let us record our own price history. We label these Spotted on Amazon or Spotted on eBay, and base them on that retailer's own price information, such as the price history Amazon shows on some product pages. We only share them when the saving is clear on a well-known product, and we never present them as one of our own price-checked deals.
